A summer in Hastings

Hastings. A place I never thought I would visit. Now I’m sitting here on a bed in this small British coast town. I’m doing a summer job abroad and that’s how I ended up here 😉 It’s only one week left and I’m really looking forward to going back home to Sweden again! Don’t get me wrong. It has been a very nice summer and I have learned a lot during these seven weeks. The town is very British and my colleague and I live at the top floor in a cute house owned by an older lady. I’ve also been in London several times, which I really have enjoyed. However, I feel that it’s time for some holiday now! 🙂

I’ve tried a lot of different restaurants and cafées here in England. In the pictures you can see the best scrambled egg toast and thai food that I’ve ever tasted!

Pizza, plans and parties

Yesterday we had our first presentation seminar which was a group presentation on a topic in global media cultures. Me and two girls from the class have worked a lot on the assignment so I hope we’ll pass. We worked very late one day and to stay motivated we bought two pizzas that we shared. Pizza energy was what we needed! 😉

In the evening I invited some friends for a party at my place. It was so much fun! We went to a pub in the city around midnight and stayed until they closed. I’m a little bit tired today…

Back to school

So, I’m back for another two years at the university. This first week has so far been intense even though our first real lecture starts next Monday. In Jönköping the first two weeks at university are called the kick off weeks and it’s partying going on during days and nights. It feels like half the city are students that are running around in colourful painting overalls that are part of the student life here. Since I’ve already done a lot of partying while I studied my bachelor I’m not participating that much in the kick off weeks anymore but I think it’s a fun thing for the new students. 🙂

The first week in school has started very well and I’ve a very interesting and fun class with people from almost all countries in Europe and some girls from China. I really like when there’s a mixture of people and cultures in one class!

Right now I’m packing my bags and cleaning the apartment. I’m moving to another place (in Jönköping) this week and I’m really looking forward to it! 🙂

Talking about packing, there’s so much people running around with bags and suitcases here right now… Everyone seems to escape the city in the summers. Jönköping has a lot of water, some beaches and many restaurants but I guess people like to see some place else on the vacation than their home town. I think many families are going to the coasts.

When I see all the vacation photos posted on social media I feel for some days off too… I took a bit too much work this summer but I’ll try to enjoy the weekends as much as possible and the weather is great in Sweden right now. (26 degrees today!)

For the future i’ll take more time for myself in the summer. A summer job is great but free time is also important to feel your best I think. ❤

Plans that go as planned

Today i recieved a message that I’m accepted to the master’s program that I wanted. I’ve been floating on a pink cloud all day after the announcement! The feeling when things fall into place is the best. I’ll continue in the same field as I’ve been studied before, in the communication area. This program is more international than my last one and all the classes will be in english, which I think is good since I want to improve myself. Looking forward for developing some more skills and being a student again. 😉

At work two of my colleagues congratulated me with some chocolate. Sweet gesture! (Feels stable to start my blog with two posts with chocolate pictures…) It was a good day. 🙂
